| Notes: |
The book consists of all the card games from Pocket.1 with the exception of Reversis and Speculation. Whist and Quadrille are
shortened; otherwise the text is identical, although the games are ordered
differently. The material on Loo, Brag, Pope Joan, and Horse Racing are from Charles
Jones' Hoyle's Games Improved, likely Jones.10 (1820). The material on horse racing, presented as an appendix at the end of the
book, is shortened. The material on Commerce
appears to be original, and is repeated in Smith. The L and NvLN copies have a variant imprint and colophon. The imprint reads "AND
SOLD BY BUMPUS..." leaving different subsequent line breaks. The colophon reads "Gough"
rather than "Gough Square." The books are otherwise the same setting of type. |
