Cloris makes the coin de repos, with five-five, with two checkers from the seven point. Making the coin (as it is known for short) leads to a strong position. It threatens to hit any checkers the opponent leaves exposed. Holding the coin also prevents the opponent from scoring on some obscure plays and allows the player to score on others.
Recall that a player can only take the coin de repos with two checkers together. Thus, Cloris could have made her coin with six-six or six-five as well.
